Down on the Bayou they are cooking up a storm ... over academic freedom

Mike Bradley has posted an academic freedom rockumentary at YouTube, defending the right of profs and teachers down on the Bayou to discuss intelligent design.

Here's his blog, which looks like it has some interesting stuff on it.

At this point, if the right to discuss intelligent design is overruled, they will have to start calling it something else. How about we take the blog purpose statement from Uncommon Descent (where I co-blog with a bunch of fun guys) and replace materialist/materialism with "jambalaya" and intelligent design with "chicken pie", as in

Uncommon Descent holds that...
Jambalaya has subverted the study of biological and cosmological origins so that the actual content of these sciences has become corrupted. The problem, therefore, is not merely that science is being used illegitimately to promote jambalaya, but that this hash is actively undermining scientific inquiry, leading to incorrect and unsupported conclusions about biological and cosmological origins. At the same time, chicken pie (CP) offers a promising scientific alternative to jambalay theories of biological and cosmological evolution -- an alternative that is finding increasing theoretical and empirical support. Hence, chicken pie needs to be vigorously developed as a scientific, intellectual, and cultural project. read more...

Why jambalay and chicken pie? Ah., well:

Pasta forbid that the Flying Spaghetti Monster would object. He started the big cookoff after all.
